May 2008 Update:  another singing in the same venue

The all-day 16th Annual Los Angeles Regional Singing will take place on May 17, 2008. We will be singing from 10 a.m. to about 4 p.m. in our favorite location, Building H at Angels Gate Cultural Center in San Pedro. Dinner-on-the-grounds will be at about noon.  Bring lots of food to share.   Click on the "Directions" link at the left.

 

The Twentieth Annual All-California Sacred Harp Singing Convention took place on January 19 and 20th, 2008.  It was attended by over 125 Sacred Harp singers from all over the country.  We local singers would like to thank  the many people who traveled from far and wide to contribute their voices to the singing.  We hope everyone who came enjoyed the singing as much as we did!

The 21st California Convention is planned for the Berkeley area in January 2009.

The Twentieth Annual All-California Sacred Harp Singing Convention is coming to Los Angeles this January. Here are the dates and times:

Saturday, January 19th and Sunday, January 20th, 2008
Doors open at 9:00 am, Singing from 10 am to 4:30 pm
Building H, Angels Gate Cultural Center
3601 South Gaffey Street, San Pedro, California

The singing location is approximately 20 miles south of downtown Los Angeles and 15 miles southeast of LAX. Building H is a fine-sounding all-wood singing space with excellent acoustics.

When you're not singing, you can enjoy the amazing view: Angels Gate Cultural Center is located on a bluff overlooking the San Pedro Channel, Catalina Island and Los Angeles Harbor.

We will sing from the 1991 Edition of The Sacred Harp. Loaner books available.

On Saturday there will be an early evening dinner-social, followed by an eclectic singing. Both will be at the Hostel in Angels Gate park.
